Thank you for your interest in Math Kangaroo, the international mathematical competition with the objective to encourage students grades 2 through 12 to master mathematics. "Math Kangaroo 2008" will take place in the United States on Thursday, March 27, 2008 in the afternoon. (It can begin at any time between 4 pm and 6 pm that is most convenient.)

Your students are invited to register to any of our locations in your area, as listed on our web pages, or you can host the competition at your school.  Please note that Math Kangaroo is organized outside schools as well.

Registration of students needs to be completed on the Internet or by mail. Our fliers - registration forms can be delivered to your school/organization and can be used for mail-in registration. Families may also choose to use Internet Registration Form. The hosting schools may choose to take care of the registration of their participant but this is not required.

If you should choose to host the competition at your school you, we will need contact information from the person responsible for it. We would send you a School Registration Form. The contact person would be notified by us about the number of students registered for your location, and you would be sent the list of participants. About a week before the competition, the contact person would receive all the competition materials in sealed envelopes, to be open in the competition hall at the time of the competition only. The following morning the person (or the school) would need to mail the answers forms back to us in the included addressed envelope.

It is also possible that you do not open your school for "outside" students because of some reasons. In that situation we do not list the school on the Internet Registration page and your office needs to take care of the registration. You would send us students data via e-mail with an Excel form provided by us and you would mail us students participation fee early in January 2007. Please contact us about details.

The students should keep the problems, pencils and t-shirts. In May, we announce the results on our webpage and ship diplomas and awards for the participants to the responsible person of the participating schools.

If the competition takes place in your school and you open your door for other students, the school will be listed on the our Internet Registration page and any student will be able to enroll for your location. Your accepting some students from other schools at your school for the event is much appreciated. Also, those students will need to be able to pick up their prizes from your school at the awards ceremony, if you choose to have one, or from the school office.

It is also possible that the competition can take place during regular school hours at your school, if this better suits you. If the test starts earlier than 3 pm, you will need to collect all question sheets from the students before they leave the competition hall, and they cannot take them outside the school that night. Any scratch paper would also need to be collected in this case.

The test is scheduled to last 75 minutes, but many students finish early. The cost of participation is $20

Nobody at Math Kangaroo in USA gets paid for Kangaroo involvement.  There is a need for volunteers willing to help out with our mission. Promoting mathematics excellence among children of all ages and cultural background is what all involved with “Math Kangaroo” have in mind and that is the only force behind this annual event.

Please visit our web pages for information about the problems, the prizes, current locations, and more.
